A Brief Introduction to Institute of Architectural Design,
                   Hefei University of Technology

    Institute of Architectural Design, Hefei University of Technology (IAD of
HFUT), founded in the year of 1979, is directly administered under the Minist
ry of Education, whose grade A credentials cover multidisciplinary design ser
vices, such fields as Architectural Design, Urban design & planning, construc
tional engineering design, engineering consulting, contracted projects undert
aking, intelligence architecture system engineering design, rock-soil Enginee
ring, building construction engineering supervision, municipal engineering su
pervision and 2 grade B credentials regarding municipal engineering design (
landscape and garden architecture)and highway and bridge engineering supervis
ion as well.

    The IAD of HFUT boasts 104 full professors, associate professors and seni
or engineers, 42 engineers and a considerable number of postgraduates and do
ctoral students. Among them, there are 18 national first grade registered arc
hitects, one chartered architect, 5 national second grade registered architec
ts, 21 national first grade registered civil engineers, one chartered civil e
ngineer, 4 national certified consultants, two qualified national engineers
in the field of utilities such as water supply and sewerage, heating install
ation and air conditioning respectively, 10 registered qualified national civ
il engineers in the field of soil and rock, 50 national registered supervisi
on engineers, 3 national registered cost engineers.

    The year of 1999 witnessed IAD of HFUT becoming among the 76 mainstay arc
hitectural design institutes by the Ministry of Construction.

    The great number of projects concerning engineering survey and design und
ertaken by IAD of HFUT won prizes by P.R China, the Ministry of Construction,
and Anhui province. In addition, IAD of HFUT has been the prizewinner in the
national contest of architectural projects and the bid winner for many times.

    In order to enhance the awareness of quality and technique of design, IAD
of HFUT has been stressing the strict implementation of the compulsory nation
al rules and regulations, strictness and elaborateness in survey and design,
to meet customers’ satisfaction, preventing design of defective quality, ful
filling the contract to the letter, paying a return visit regularly so as to
improve quality of service continuously; assuming full responsibility for the
project by perfecting the after-sales service all the time. In order to bette
r achieve the expected purposes, IAD of HFUT has been emphasizing on the tra
ining of employees in terms of quality and technology.
